It is perhaps the long-disturbing traffic issue that drives governments all over the globe to make great efforts in establishing or improving their traffic system. Nevertheless, I still cannot be enrolled in the camp that claims it is wise to construct railway rather than roads.
Undoubtedly, the railway construction, in a way, can be deemed as a win-win program for both the country and its citizens. After all, compared with other types of transportation, the transporting load of railage in a unit time is the largest and it is also the fastest approach of conveyance on land. Simultaneously, due to its strikingly strong operating system in running, it can scarcely entail any congestion. Evidently, it is advantageous to implement the plan referred to railway establishment.
Rather, whether it is the rail or the road, the erection is in requirement of many other comprehensive elements, for example the scale of city development, the extent of population mobility, the condition of geographical surroundings and so forth. For those world-famous metropolis, like New York or Shanghai, both railroad and traffic-way are key in the city function. For one thing, major cities need to receive populations nationwide and even worldwide; thereby, sufficient convenience must be provided by perfect train system. Meanwhile, residents living in such a big city are supposed to be ensure with a relatively pleasant road-travel condition. However, for those middle-sized cities or towns, situations should differ according to different complex consideration. With the help of proper geography and adequate budgets, building railway should not be a malfeasance. Instead, it tends to introduce numerous opportunities for further development. Unfortunately, it seems not make sense for cities of limited scale to set up extensive railway, where, there are neither too much immigrating population nor too large population density after all.
Additionally, do forget that along with the above sweeteners, rail service signifies a higher financial investment, a larger amount of resources as well as a much more complicated running system, all of which require a considerable number of time and budget. Besides, during the construction process, more severe traffic congestion is inevitable, unless the authorities can avoid these visible or potential issues and otherwise a blind construction of railway cannot be a wise choice.
總而言之,到底是建鐵路還是建公路不能武斷地做決定,還是應(yīng)該順應(yīng)城市發(fā)展規(guī)律。
Overall, decision of whether to build should not be arbitrary, while it must be in accordance with laws of civil development.

Parents generally believe it is their responsibility to plan the careers for their children. They claim that they know their children well enough to decide what kind of job suits them. Hoping that their children will go in for professions that will bring them the greatest prestige and economic benefit, many parents think that their children are too young to see this for themselves. There are some parents who even expect their children to take over the careers of their fathers. For these reasons, many parents insist that theirchildren should obey them in choosing careers.
But many children suggest that they should be left free to choose their own careers. For one thing, parents and children may not share the same interest. A job that appeals is likely to be boring for their children. For another, children have been brought up in a different age from their parents, and therefore, should be allowed to cultivate a spirit of independence and self-reliance. In short, children should be free to make their own decisions as to future careers.
In my opinion, in this case as in many other things, mutual understanding is important. On the one hand, parents view does reflect theirconcern for the well-being of their children. On the other hand, after all it is the children who will be doing the jobs. Therefore, it will be wise for parents to give them this freedom while for the children they should consult their parents when it is necessary. (249 words).

Nowadays, with the development of technology and economy, living conditions of youngster have been improved substantially. However, it is surprising that the level of their happiness does not grow correspondingly. In this essay, I will give possible reasons and solutions to this issue.
Firstly, as the young generation grow up and live in a time when there is much more abundant materials, they take for granted their high living standard and become less sensitive to any improvement in this regard. On the other hand, their spiritual need cannot satisfy due to the loss of traditional values. They strive for fame and profit and suffer from high stress every day, but get disoriented in a fast-changing world and have no idea about the ultimate goal of their lives.
In addition, as many young people were spoilt by their parents in their childhood, they become self-centered, inconsiderate and apathetic. All they care about is no more than their personal interests and feelings, instead of having a charitable heart for giving and helping others. Therefore, love and care, the key elements connecting people together emotionally, are fading. Therefore, young people gradually become indifferent from their friends and families, which then trapping them into negative emotions like loneliness, depression and anxiety.
To address this problem, young people should realize that the main solution lies with their own change. They should shift their attention from the pursuit of fame and money to their families and a balanced life. Also, engaging in interpersonal activities like parties and sports with friends is an idea way that helping young generations recover their emotional pleasure and well-being back, because sharing true feelings, experience and inner-heart ideas with others is a wonderful means of relieving stress, mentally.

Over the last half century the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This has been driven by technology and scientific breakthroughs that are changing the whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. This means that change is not always a personal option, but an inescapable fact of life, and we need to constantly adapt to keep pace with it.
Those people who believe they have achieved some security by doing the same, familiar things are living in denial. Even when people believe they are resisting change themselves, they cannot stop the world around them from changing. Sooner or later they will find that the familiar jobs no longer exist, or that the ‘safe patterns of behavior are no longer appropriate.
However, reaching the conclusion that change is inevitable is not the same as assuming that ‘change is always for the better. Unfortunately, it is not always the case that new things are promoted because they have good impacts for the majority of people. A lot of innovations are made with the aim of making money for a few. This is because it is the rich and powerful people in our society who are able to impose changes (such as in working conditions or property developments) that are in their own interests.
In conclusion, I would say that change can be stimulating and energizing for individuals when they pursue it themselves, but that all change, including that which is imposed on people, does not necessary have good outcomes.

With the development of technology, today we live in the world with hightechnology.
People seem to cant live without computer and smart phone, oncethey dont have smart phone at hand for a while, the seem to be lost and feelsomething miss in their life. When I talk to my friends at table, I find themalways play smart phones or check on the text all the time. Though we sit faceto face, the distance between us is so far. The high technology brings isolationbetween people. Some people dont often visit their parents and friends, forthey believe that a call can solve all the things. Communication in face to faceis far more important than a call. It is time for some people to put down theirsmart phones for a while when they are communicating to others.

Finished watching the old film Titantic----the love story between Rose and Jack. It is a really good movie, and I can not help spending three hours watching it although I am so tired and sleepy.
What is love, and how can we express our love?
I became ill recently and my nose bled this evening. I felt scared as I stay home alone. I wrote this in my QQ status, and to my great surprise, S found it and asked me at once "Are u ok?"----I was stunned! I did not know whether I should reply or not. I told him, "It is ok," but the truth was that I felt quite uncomfortable~ I am not a suitable friend for him, so I do not want him worrying about me~ It is better that I overcome all the difficulties by myself, and I will!

We advise that you should wear face mask and avoid going to the crowded place when you go out. We remember not to be in close contact with the patients infected with swine flu. On the other hand, the best way to stay away from this virus is to wash your hands often, and make sure that you have enough sleep. At the same time, we should do more exercise so that we can build up our body.
We are sure that we must overcome the threat against swine flu as long as we take proper measures and insist on taking exercise every day.

I have a very good friend. His name is Philip. As far as Im concerned, hes very kind-hearted and generous.
Once I was in high school, he treated me friendly and sincerely. When I was happy, he was also happy with me.
When I was sad, he always comforted me. When I was defeated, he always encouraged me.
When I stumbled, he always pulled me up. Although we quarreled at times, we were still in good relationships. We could know each other better after the argument. When my birthday came, he always sent me a special present.
Hes very hard-working and intelligent. He always studied hard at school. Because of his hard work, he always did very well in exams.
His oral English was better than mine. Most of the time, he was willing to chat with me in English. Owing to his help, I made a lot of progress in oral English.

Friends can be classified into two kinds, good friends and evil friends. Evil friends lead us astray and may destroy our life, while good ones drive us towards the right and make our life successful.
Two of them exist in our daily life. However, ideal friends exist in peoples mind.
They should be diligent, successful and loyal. When you need help, they will stand beside you and be delighted to give you a hand.
Also you can share your happiness and sorrow together.
In my opinion, friends can share something but they also should keep their own secrets. So I wish my friends wouldnt interfere in my privacy too much.
On the other hand, my friends should have Something in common with me, at the same time something special. In this way we can attract each other and learn from each other.

A requirement for membership in any group is conformity. Members must agree on such vital issues as how decisions will be made, who will serve as leaders, and how much freedom group members will have. The quality of decision making, however, is better when groups encourage nonconformity and disagreement among their members. Although it sometimes creates disorder and conflict, disagreement may prevent powerful majorities from making mistakes.
Assignment: Do groups that encourage nonconformity and disagreement function better than those that discourage it? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Among all the instructive proverbs that give people advice, the one I like most is “Where there is a will, there is a way”. This short, beautiful sentence tells us an incontrovertible truth: if you have a dream and stick to it, you will realize it sooner or later.
For me, the saying has a special meaning. When I was in Junior Middle School, I was so poor in my studies that I nearly gave up. But my head-teacher was always there and gave me confidence every time I lose heart. He used to say, “a little more effort and you will make it.”
Thanks to my dearest teacher, all my efforts paid off and finally I became a top student. “Nothing is impossible to a willing heart”, as long as you have a dream, keep trying and you?ll make it, too.

Love makes the world go around.
Love to us human is what water to fish.Love shines the most beautiful light of humanity,we born in it,we live by it.Too often we take it as granted, but we should know love is a priceless gift we should cherish. But how to cherish the love?I have heard a saying :the quickest way to receive love is to give it; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
It is important for us to learn to love as the first class in our life.Only when you know how to love than you will be a real man in this world.Love brings us warmth in the fearful coldness, love brings us bright when life gets hard and dark.Love brings us confidence toward life when we are tired out and want to give up.
Love deserves all the admiring words, and love is even beyond the life and death. That is what love is all about in my eyes.

Different people have different opinions about what a good friend shouldbe. My classmates think that good friends are supposed to share happiness andhelp each other. However, not everyone can share sadness with you. Those peopleare not real friends.
I think good friends can consider things while standing in your shoes. Theyalso think about other people. They put other people as priority instead ofthemselves. Good friends should be honest, kind and have a sense ofresponsibility. Without honesty, people cannot trust each other and they cantshare their deepest thoughts or secrets. Good friends should also be goodlisteners. They can hear your sadness and help you go through the bad feelings. You can always trust your good friends.
In short, I think good friends should be kind and honest. They should alsobe willing to help you and share your sadness.

All the people in the earth spend their life on many kinds of item, such as family, friendship, career and so on.And we will rush into trouble when going for someting. We seem to walk into a forest as we are lost and go without a accurate direction. And then we get down,be frustrated. We need the passion of our life.Futhermore, what we lack in to overcome hardship is a willing heart, which helps us build up confidence and light our way to the beautiful future.
With a wll,a beggar can become a millionaire. With a will, nothing could stop a determined man stepping forward. We all have a goal, and we were born for it,a pure and wonderful expection. It is the movitation of our life.Only if we hold a will are we able to face a storm and expect for a sunny sky.So it is never too late to keep a wll.

The process by whick bricks are manufactured for the building industry can be outlined in seven consecutive steps.
First the raw material, clay which was just below the surface of soil in certain clay-rich areas has to be dug up by a digger.
Then the lumps of clay are placed on a metal grid in order to break down the big chunks of clay into much smaller ones, which fall through the metal grid onto a roller, whose motion furthter segregates the bits of clay. Sand and water are added to make a homogenous mixture, which is then either formed in moulds or cut into brick-shape pieces by means of a wire cutter.
Those fresh bricks are then kept in a drying oven for at least 24 and a maximum of 48 hours, several dozens if not hundres of bricks at a time. The dried bricks are then transferred to a so-called kiln, another typle of high temperature oven. First they are kept at a moderate temperature of 870 degree celsius-1300. This process is followed by cooling down the finished bricks for 48 to 72 hours in a cooling chamber.
Once the bricks have cooled down and have harden, they get packaged and delivered to their final destination, be it a building site or storage.

These two diagrams show the design of house from different weather: cool and warm respectively
As can be seen in the first graph linked to cool climate, roof with a high angle should be adopted to increase the indoor temperature by absorbing more sunshine. Meanwhile, a building material that can store heat is also needed within the house, coupled with the outside insulation, a material that can reduce heat loss. In this way, we can keep as much heat as possible inside the house in cold weather.
In contrast, when it is hot, the designing method is divided into two modes: day and night respectively. In order to lessen more heat intake, a reflective material should be adopted to build the roof, which is overhung for more shade. The insulation is also required to reduce the loss of cold air. What is worth mentioning in the day is that windows must be kept closed and covered, to avoid warm sunshine, while at night the windows should remain open, releasing the stored heat during the daytime and exchanging for more cool air.
Overall, housing design should differ in cool climates and warm climates.

The flow chart indicates how to utilize the old battery to manufacture the new one and relevant useful products based on four main stages.
To begin with, the old car batteries, collected in garages, are transported to the recycling factories by truck, and then decomposed into three parts which consist of plastic case, lead grids and acid in the bottle. Moving to the second stage, the new case could be achieved by taking advantage of the plastic pellets that are the outputs after crushing the old plastic case by the crushing machine. Finally, the new grid is from the molten lead grids processed in the lead melting factory. By the end, the new batteries come into being with the combination of the new case, new grid and new acid.
Besides, the old acid in the bottle is also able to be used for making glass and textiles after adding additives and soil crystals in sequence.
Seen from the chart, it is evident that every part of the old battery can be recycled for producing new products.

It is true that medicines and other products are routinely tested on animals before they are cleared for human use. While I tend towards the viewpoint that animal testing is morally wrong, I would have to support a limited amount of animal experimentation for the development of medicines.
On the one hand, there are clear ethical arguments against animal experimentation. To use a common example of this practice, laboratory mice may be given an illness so that the effectiveness of a new drug can be measured. Opponents of such research argue that humans have no right to subject animals to this kind of trauma, and that the lives of all creatures should be respected. They believe that the benefits to humans do not justify the suffering caused, and that scientists should use alternative methods of research.
On the other hand, reliable alternatives to animal experimentation may not always be available. Supporters of the use of animals in medical research believe that a certain amount of suffering on the part of mice or rats can be justified if human lives are saved. They argue that opponents of such research might feel differently if a member of their own families needed a medical treatment that had been developed through the use of animal experimentation. Personally, I agree with the banning of animal testing for non-medical products, but I feel that it may be a necessary evil where new drugs and medical procedures are concerned.
In conclusion, it seems to me that it would be wrong to ban testing on animals for vital medical research until equally effective alternatives have been developed.

Dolphin is my favourite animal. It is one of the most precious animals. Their bodies are very long, about one zhang. Dolphins live in the sea. They live on fish, shrimps and so on. Dolphins are very friendly and peaceful. They never attack people. Instead, they have saved many people in danger in the past years. How helpful the dolphins are! Dolphins are very clever. People often train them so that they can give a dolphin show which brings people a lot of happiness and joy. Unluckily, the number of dolphins is getting smaller and smaller. Because of water pollution, there is less and less space for dolphins. Many people make money by hunting dolphins. If we dont protect them, maybe well lose our good friends one day. As a student, I hope more and more people should take actions to protect dolphins.

As a result of constant media attention, sports professionals in my country have become stars and celebrities, and those at the top are paid huge salaries. Just like movie stars, they live extravagantlifestyles with huge houses and cars.
Many people find their rewards unfair, especially when comparing these super salaries with those of top surgeons or research scientists, or even leading politicians who have the responsibilityof governing the country. However, sports salaries are not determined by considering the contribution to society a person makes, or the level of responsibility he or she holds. Instead, they reflect the public popularity of sport in general and the level of public support that successful stars can generate. So the notion of ‘fairness is not the issue.
Those who feel that sports stars salaries are justified might argue that the number of professionals with real talent are very few, and the money is a recognition of the skills and dedication a person needs to be successful. Competition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform. in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is intense and there is little privacy out of the spotlight. So all of thesefactors may justify the huge earnings.
Personally, I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time, it indicatesthat our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements.

In some parts of the world there is an increasing number of people trying to find out the history of their families. Why? Is this trend a positive or negative development?
Example writing:
What you can discover about the roots of your family is not likely to make headlines, but may be crucial in building a family tree that can be both interesting and surprising. Trying to search a family history is a positive attitude toward something that you learn from and grow from it. Good or bad, one thing is sure: you cannot erase the past.
Some people are actually not interested to know their family roots. The thought of finding out how they end up where they are at the moment simply does not intrigue them enough. They think it is useless to get whatever information leading to who were they related to--great, great grand-parents, and great, great grand uncles and aunties. Hence, it seems that embarking on a project to create a family tree is not unlike digging the graves of the once-upon-a-time family members. Besides, they are convinced that there is nothing exciting or worthwhile about any serious research on family histories. This point of view is somehow understandable, considering the effort might turn out to be futile going through much trouble in vain to gather details about folks in ancient blood line long since buried and gone.

Over the past century, science and technology has been developing unprecedentedly and changing every aspect of peoples lives. In my point of view, technology brings about higher efficiency and greater convenience, even though it causes confusion and disorder under some circumstances.
The benefits of modern technologies are multiple. Automation is widely used on the assembly line, setting free millions of people from the arduous and repetitive work. Thanks to the widespread use of the Internet, people have easier access to information than ever before. Instead of going to the library to consult reference books, they can acquire any information they want via the Internet. Moreover, emails and mobile phones enable people to stay in touch more conveniently and efficiently, compared with the old days when they had to go to the post office or visit others in person.
Despite the above-mentioned benefits,we cannot deny the fact that technology may lead to complexity and inconvenience in some cases. For instance, some old people find it difficult to use public facilities equipped with electronic-devices. However, this issue can be addressed with clear instructions provided. Another example is cyber fraud, which is difficult to prevent as the false information can spread very fast on the web. Those who get deceived may complain that the virtual space generates more crimes.
Overall, there is no denying that some problems and troubles may occur When various new technologies are applied to peoples lives. However, returning to a simple life without technology is not a solution and I believe a better future of mankind lies with the further progress of science and technology.

Every year, millions of animals undergo painful suffering or death as a result of scientific research into the effects of drugs, food additives, cosmetics and other chemical products. While most people think animal testing is necessary, others are upset by what they see as needless suffering. This essay looks at some of the positive and negative aspects of animal testing.
Many medical treatments and procedures have been developed from experiments on animals. Since animals share many features with humans, scientists use animals to test the safety and effectiveness of newly developed drugs before pilot testing on small groups of patients. Medical teams practice new operating techniques such as transplants on animals. Without animal testing, many procedures or new drugs would be extremely unsafe.
However, many people are concerned that animals are suffering unnecessarily and cruelly. They do not believe that every new drug needs to be tested on animals, especially with the huge database of knowledge and modern computer models. They also are worried that many animal tests are ineffective, pointing out that any drugs have had to be withdrawn from the market despite extensive testing. They particularly feel that animal testing should not be used for non-essential products such as cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, and cleaning products. Furthermore, some campaigners would like to see certain tests replaced and more humane methods used.

These days, a higher education degree seems a requirement for a decent job. Therefore, some people tend to regard career-oriented skills as the aim of tertiary education, whereas others insist that universities are expected to focus on students academic study.
Indeed, one of the guidelines of higher education is to expand students academic knowledge, which helps them to become a well-rounded person capable of fully participating in society. Young adults who are exposed to wider areas and deeper levels of knowledge usually have higher ability to adapt to the challenging world where a variety of skill sets will be needed. If these students only have access to the knowledge of a certain job, they will possibly end up finding themselves incompetent in the job market. Beyond that, academic learning also provides opportunities to cultivate other skills, such as critical thinking, in-depth analyzing and abstract thinking. These higher order abilities are what the society expects from university graduates.
However, a certain amount of job-oriented training should also be available in todays universities where academic pursuit sometimes have been over-emphasized and, in some cases, go so far as to overlook the practical value for students future. For many young graduates, they need a fast start into the job market; thus, some pre-learnt experience of the hands-on aspect of their future career would be crucial. For those who do not have a clear goal, this kind of education will assist them to make occupational choices. Employers would also have a better insight of what a newly graduated candidate have learnt with regard to the position, in which case they can hire applicants based on their skills instead of their degree. In turn, universities can be providing a larger number of essential and productive workforce for the society.
To conclude, higher education shoulders a great deal of responsibilities, which would certainly include enabling both academic and employment achievement for their students. My view is that modern universities will need to diversify their objectives and focuses in response to the fast-changing world, and any institution that concentrates on just one aspect would fail its promises to the society.

The charts below show the main reasons for study among students of different groups and the amount of support they received from employers.
The bar charts compare students of different ages in terms of why they are studying and whether they are supported by an employer.
It is clear that the proportion of students who study for career purposes is far higher among the younger age groups, while the oldest students are more likely to study for interest. Employer support is more commonly given to younger students.
Around 80% of students aged under 26 study to further their careers, whereas only 10% study purely out of interest. The gap between these two proportions narrows as students get older, and the figures for those in their forties are the same, at about 40%. Students aged over 49 overwhelmingly study for interest (70%) rather than for professional reasons (less than 20%).
Just over 60% of students aged under 26 are supported by their employers. By contrast, the 30-39 age group is the most self-sufficient, with only 30% being given time off and help with fees. The figures rise slightly for students in their forties and for those aged 50 or more.(178 words, band 9)

The pie charts give information about the water used for residential, industrial and agricultural purposes in San Diego County, California, and the world as a whole.
It is noticeable that more water is consumed by homes than by industry or agriculture in the two American regions. By contrast, agriculture accounts for the vast majority of water used worldwide.
In San Diego County and California State, residential water consumption accounts for 60% and 39% of total water usage. By contrast, a mere 8% of the water used globally goes to homes. The opposite trend can be seen when we look at water consumption for agriculture. This accounts for a massive 69% of global water use, but only 17% and 28% of water usage in San Diego and California respectively.
Such dramatic differences are not seen when we compare the figures for industrial water use. The same proportion of water (23%) is used by industry in San Diego and worldwide, while the figure for California is 10% higher, at 33%.

The table compares the numbers of people who cycled to work in twelve areas of the UK in the years 2001 and 2011.
Overall, the number of UK commuters who travelled to work by bicycle rose considerably over the 10-year period. Inner London had by far the highest number of cycling commuters in both years.
In 2001, well over 43 thousand residents of inner London commuted by bicycle, and this figure rose to more than 106 thousand in 2011, an increase of 144%. By contrast, although outer London had the second highest number of cycling commuters in each year, the percentage change, at only 45%, was the lowest of the twelve areas shown in the table.
Brighton and Hove saw the second biggest increase (109%) in the number of residents cycling to work, but Bristol was the UKs second city in terms of total numbers of cycling commuters, with 8,108 in 2001 and 15,768 in 2011. Figures for the other eight areas were below the 10 thousand mark in both years.

The line graph compares three companies in terms of their waste output between the years 2000 and 2015.
It is clear that there were significant changes in the amounts of waste produced by all three companies shown on the graph. While companies A and B saw waste output fall over the 15-year period, the amount of waste produced by company C increased considerably.
In 2000, company A produced 12 tonnes of waste, while companies B and C produced around 8 tonnes and 4 tonnes of waste material respectively. Over the following 5 years, the waste output of companies B and C rose by around 2 tonnes, but the figure for company A fell by approximately 1 tonne.
From 2005 to 2015, company A cut waste production by roughly 3 tonnes, and company B reduced its waste by around 7 tonnes. By contrast, company C saw an increase in waste production of approximately 4 tonnes over the same 10-year period. By 2015, company Cs waste output had risen to 10 tonnes, while the respective amounts of waste from companies A and B had dropped to 8 tonnes and only 3 tonnes.

Individuals can do nothing to improve the environment; only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about environmental protection and regard it as one of the most important challenges. However, whether only governments and big firms have resources and powers to preserve our environment is a controversial issue. My view is that every single citizen could also make a huge difference.
In the first place, it is clear that it is human activities that have the greatest impact throughout the history. Both environment contamination and conservation are the long-term process, and no single government or big company can meet this challenge alone. So whoever created the problem should be responsible for solving it; environment protection needs every one of us to continuously participate in.
Moreover, the publics wills and behaviors have critical influence on governments policies and companies strategies. For example, if everyone says “no” to plastic shopping bags and paper cups, the companies that manufacture such products will switch to environmental-friendly substitutes in order to survive in the market.
However, that is not to say that governments and large companies cannot positively contribute. Indeed, governments can enact laws and introduce programs to raise the publics low-carbon awareness; companies can promote green products to change the publics consuming habits. But they also need every citizens appreciation and support to bring good results.
In sum, no effort is too small when we are protecting the environment. Meanwhile, local authorities and organizations must shoulder their responsibility to develop low-carbon economy at the macro level. Only by doing so can we assure that we could hand this beautiful planet to our next generation and the next generation after.

Nowadays, it is common that ex-offenders violate the law repeatedly although they have been punished. In this essay, I will initially discuss the reasons for this situation, followed by my suggestions which can assist in preventing crimes from happening.
There are primarily two factors largely responsible for recidivism. To commence with, the sanctions against criminals are not harsh enough. In other words, being punished does not make a huge difference to offenders, leading to the possibility that these people are normally unable to realise the detrimental consequences that breaching the law will entail for victims and society, and such behaviour is likely to be re-exhibited as a result. Additionally, former convicts are not completely accepted in society. People released from prison seem to be automatically judged as those whose character is poor. Their family and friends may not embrace them and employers refuse to recruit them. Therefore, nothing can help them to survive but to re-offend.
To cease crimes, several approaches can be adopted. Firstly, the implementation of more punitive measures is effective. Only when people are truly conscious of their wrongdoing both physically and psychologically can they stop themselves from committing crimes. For instance, a longer stint of community service or jail sentence is respectively appropriate for convicts with minor crimes and serious ones. Secondly, providing more vocational training sessions and job opportunities for those with criminal records is another feasible solution. If they can earn a living independently, having sufficient money to afford accommodation and feed themselves, they are rarely motivated to participate in some illegal activities again.
In conclusion, lenient punishments for law breakers and less social tolerance for previous criminals are the two major two causes of re-offending. However, if severer penalties can be meted out to prisoners and meanwhile ex-criminals are allowed to have a smoother re-entry into the community, crime issues can be tackled.
